AFTERNOON TEA AT HOTEL DU VIN BRIGHTON

Share

Afternoon Tea is a classic British tradition that many people indulge in, since every British person loves tea and cake! Hotel Du Vin is located in the heart of Brighton, just one road off of the iconic beachfront. Its unique look makes it stand out on the road, and once you enter, it feels very homey.

When entering the Hotel, my friends and I were greeted by friendly staff who pointed us in the direction of the bistro where afternoon tea took place. Once seated, we were able to choose from a variety of different teas, which came served in a dainty teapot along with a sweet jug of milk, with a selection of sugars having already been placed on the table before we arrived. A big bonus is that the tea was unlimited! The hotel was able to cater to any allergies or dietary requirements we had, in order to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for us. Amilah was given her own stand of gluten free nibbles and treats, which looked just as tasty as the bites Owen and I were given.

The astonishing array of sweet and savoury nibbles came served on a delicate 2 tiered stand, with the savoury bites on the bottom, and the sweet treats placed on top, ready to be picked at. We were treated to afternoon tea classics, as the hotel offered a range of finger sandwiches, as well as salmon and cream cheese on rye, and an egg and cress brioche roll. The top platter contained cakey and chocolatey bites, meaning there was something for everyone. Finally, the Hotel served scones with butter, strawberry conserve and clotted cream - the sole item of an afternoon tea! After gazing at the stunning arrangement of food and making sure we captured the best pictures and videos, we tucked in! The finger sandwiches were full of different flavours which made me want more! I then indulged in the delicious looking scones, making sure I spread the clotted cream on before the jam - the only way to do it! From the first bite I was hooked, wishing there was one more scone I could enjoy. Now for the part I had been eyeing up from the start - the sweet platter. I went for the Victorian sponge roulade first, which was bursting with flavour, followed by the chocolate ganache pebble, which is perfect for people like me with a sweet tooth!

Hotel Du Vin’s sophisticated bistro and friendly service made it the perfect place to spend an afternoon indulging in some fine tea and delicious cake, and I encourage people to go and check it out! For more experiences in Brighton, click here.
